Heaven Sings

about

I wrote this track 12 years ago when my Dad was ordered to deploy to Iraq. After weeks of them telling the unit they were going and then changing their minds, they finally decided that they were going. 24 hours before they were scheduled to deploy, my Dad got the news that he was not going.

This song is a tribute to the men and women that wear the uniform of our freedom. Those that signed up for the armed forces knowing that they could be called upon to protect us. I salute you. Thank you for ensuring my freedom.

I got your 6!

lyrics

VERSE:
He kisses his wife and children and tells the not to cry
"I will be back. I'll see you soon. So dry your eyes."
He turns and walks outside the door a new life to embrace
And he's glad his family can't see the tears run down his face.

Waiting anxiously by the phone they wait for him to call.
But unknown to them he will take a fall.
Taking the bullet for a friend he stares death in the eye
And as it hits him he says "Father. I'm ready to die."

CHORUS:
Please keep my family safe from harm
Comfort them and love them and hold them in Your arms.
Although I don't want to die I want to live.
For my family's freedom my life I freely give.

VERSE:
She picks up her future thinking it's him on the other side.
But it's not it's a general tell her he's died.
But she refuses to believe it she knows he's still alive
So she falls down to the ground and she cries.

She gathers all of her children and tells them of the news
"Please pray for Daddy. You know he loves you."
As they start to pray the youngest one they start to cry
"Jesus. I do not want my Daddy to die."

CHORUS:
Please keep my daddy safe from harm
Comfort him and love him and hold him in Your arms
Though I don't want him to die I want him to be safe
But for my freedom his life he freely gave.

BRIDGE:
As they pray the phone rings
She picks it up and hears his voice
and Heaven starts to sing

CHORUS:
We kept your family safe from harm
We comforted and love them and God held them in His arms
Though He did not want to die He wanted you to be saved
So for your freedom His live He freely gave
